Weekly Grievance Redressal Meeting for Prison Personnel
Chennai, 07.10.2026:
Dr. Sandeep Rai Rathore, IPS, Director General of Police / Director
General of Prisons and Correctional Services, Tamil Nadu, conducted a
Grievance Redressal Meeting every Tuesday for the personnel of the
Department of Prisons and Correctional Services, as part of employed-
welfare oriented approach.
The initiative provides an opportunity for both Executive and Ministerial
personnel of the Department to directly submit their representations
relating to service matters, transfer requests and other genuine
grievances before the Head of the Department.
During the Grievance Redressal Meeting held on 06.10.2026, around 75
petitions were received by the Director General. Over the past three
months, around 750 grievance petitions have been received, of which
approximately 400 petitions have been positively disposed of through this
weekly grievance redressal initiative, in accordance with the applicable
rules and administrative procedures. The remaining petitions are under
examination and are being considered on their individual merits.
The Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services has stated that
due priority would be accorded to deserving cases, particularly those
involving single parents, spouse employment grounds, personnel at the
retirement stage and severe medical conditions, while considering
transfer requests
The weekly grievance redressal initiative reflects the Department’s
commitment to ensuring direct access to the Head of the Department,
prompt consideration of genuine grievances and a transparent, responsive
and employee-friendly administrative system
The Department of Prisons and Correctional Services places on record its
appreciation for the continued support and guidance of the Hon’ble Chief
Minister of Tamil Nadu and the Government of Tamil Nadu towards the
welfare of prison personnel
